Case Study #1
41 Year Old Male
This 41-year-old man from Italy had been experiencing male pattern hair loss for approximately 10 years. Prior to his use of topical liposomal finasteride, he had not attempted to treat the condition with medication.
Over the past 6 months, there has been considerable improvement in both coverage and density. We look forward to his continued progress.
Case Study #2
30 Year Old Male
This 30-year-old attorney from Vancouver had been wearing a turban since childhood. Desiring a more secular look, however, he no longer wished to wear the turban – but was concerned about the considerable thinning apparent on the top and crown areas of his scalp.
He was reluctant to try oral finasteride based on his online research, but was persuaded to try the topical variant of the drug. He initially made use of an earlier, non-liposomal version of the drug, but switched to our liposomal formulation as soon as it became available.
He has since had two hair transplant procedures to the frontal scalp. Due to the emerging regrowth he experienced while on the topical finasteride, there was no need to place grafts in crown area. I am happy to say that this patient has restored full density to his crown, despite his fairly advanced stage of hair loss.
Case Study #3
33 Year Old Male
This 33-year-old Italian man residing in New Jersey presented with male pattern hair loss from the age of 17, and was treating his condition with Minoxidil (5%). He had attempted to use Propecia years earlier, but had stopped treatment after just two months due to the medication’s negative side effects.
He underwent a strip procedure of 3956 grafts transplanted into the anterior region of the scalp. No grafts were placed into the crown area. He started administering topical liposomal finasteride approximately one week after his procedure – upon ceasing his use of Minoxidil.
Photographs were taken eight months after his surgery. Considerable improvement is apparent in the crown area.
Case Study #4
38 Year Old Male
This 38-year-old software engineer from Colorado presented with a 4-year history of male pattern hair loss. Prior to his use of topical finasteride, he had not attempted to treat his condition with medication.
He was assessed as having diffuse patterned alopecia – with the result that his donor hair was borderline. We therefore recommended that he try topical liposomal finasteride for a year, after which we would reassess his treatment options based on his results.
These photographs show him pre-treatment, at 6 months and at 9 months. We noted significant regrowth in both the anterior and crown areas of the scalp – resulting in a pleasing cosmetic result.
In our experience, regrowth while on topical finasteride increases up to the 2-year mark, so we look forward to continued improvement.
Case Study #5
22 Year Old Male
This 22-year-old man from Italy presented with a history of male patter hair loss starting at age 16. He had tried Propecia, but was unable to tolerate the medication due to it’s numerous side-effects. In addition, he had undergone scalp micropigmentation in an attempt to reduce the visibility of his condition.
He underwent a strip procedure of 5990 grafts to the entire Norwood 6 thinning area. No grafts were placed below the whirl area, as this area was expected to improve with the use of topical liposomal finasteride – which he started administering approximately 1 week after surgery.
This patient’s post-operative photographs were taken only 5 months after his surgery, and reveal promising growth on the anterior portion of his scalp. The hair in the crown area typically takes three months longer to grow in, and is therefore still quite thin. Nevertheless, there is a marked reduction in the size of the balding area of the crown: the upper border of the thinning zone has moved upwards considerably. This is a common finding in patients receiving oral or topical finasteride.
Case Study #6
54 Year Old Male
This 54-year-old Italian businessman had experience male pattern hair loss since the age of 30. He had not attempted to treat his condition with medication.
He underwent a strip procedure of 4796 grafts to the anterior region of his scalp. No grafts were placed in the crown area. He started administering topical liposomal finasteride roughly one week after his surgery.
These photographs show significant improvements to the crown area after one year of treatment. We look forward to continued progress.
Case Study #7
36 Year Old Male
This 36-year-old businessman from Hong Kong presented with a 15-year history of male pattern hair loss. He has previously treated his condition with oral finasteride, as well as Minoxidil. However, he was unable to cope with the side effects of the oral finasteride, and discontinued his use of this medication after only two months.
He underwent two hair transplant procedures: the first was a 4072-graft strip surgery to the anterior region of the scalp, and the second was a 1007-graft FUE procedure to the weaker area of his crown. Approximately one week after surgery, he started using topical liposomal finasteride.
At 1 year post-op, the increased density in the crown area is significantly greater than one could expect from the small number of FUE grafts placed here. We look forward to his continued improvement.
Case Study #8
46 Year Old Male
This 46-year-old businessman from Vancouver had been experiencing male pattern hair loss for the better part of 10 years. Prior to his use of topical liposomal finasteride, he had never attempted to treat the condition.
After only two months of using the medication, he noticed a considerable improvement in his appearance: his upper posterior hairline has moved upwards considerably, and there is significant new hair appearance where previously there appeared to be no hair at all.
We look forward to reviewing his progress over the coming months.
Please note: This patient underwent a hair transplant in the frontal region which accounts for the improvement there, but nothing to the crown area.
